Yellow Ancistrus - peaceful, bottom-cleaning and ideal for all aquariums
Ancistrus sp. "L144", often called Ancistrus gold or Ancistrus yellow, is a selected variant of Ancistrus renowned for its bright colour and usefulness in the aquarium. With its golden yellow body and red eyes, it stands out in all community tanks, while remaining a robust, peaceful fish that is effective against algae.
This fish is territorial towards its male congeners, but totally peaceful with other species. It can live alone, in pairs or in small groups if the aquarium has enough hiding places. The aquarium should be at least 80 litres in size, with shaded areas and good oxygenation.
A detritivorous herbivore, Ancistrus L144 grazes on algae, biofilm and food scraps. It enjoys :
This fish is very tolerant, but appreciates clean, well-oxygenated, stable water. A groundfish conditioner is recommended if chlorine or heavy metals are present.
Fine sand, natural roots, ceramic tubes and flat stones are ideal for its well-being. Recommended plants : Anubias, Bucephalandra, Microsorum. Choose moderate lighting and shady spots.

Place a wooden root in the aquarium: it will grate the surface for its fibre needs. For reproduction, place a tube closed at the back: the male will keep the eggs and larvae inside until they have hatched.
