Peckoltia brevis "L205" (4-5 cm)

Small, peaceful Plecos - ideal for planted or Amazonian containers

The Peckoltia brevis, identified by the code L205, is a bottom-dwelling catfish native to the Rio Tapajós (Brazil). It is distinguished by its brown coat mottled with cream or pale yellow patterns, and its calm temperament. Perfect for well-planted community tanks, it is discreet, useful and compatible with many peaceful companions.

Behaviour & maintenance

The L205 is a peaceful, nocturnal groundfish, territorial only between adult males. It can be kept alone, in pairs or in small groups in an aquarium of at least 80-100 L. It likes shaded areas and plenty of hiding places (tubes, roots, stones).

Diet

Omnivorous with carnivorous tendencies:

  • Protein bottom pellets
  • Bloodworms, artemia, krill, mussels
  • Specific pellets for Loricariidae
Not a big algae eater. Feed mainly in the evening, in subdued light.

  • Ideal temperature: 25 - 29°C
  • pH: 6.0 - 7.2
  • GH: 4 - 12 °dGH
  • KH: 2 - 6 °KH
  • Conductivity: 150 - 300 µS

Native to an Amazonian tributary, this fish requires fresh, clean, well-oxygenated water. Avoid nitrate peaks and sudden changes.
