Rainbow cichlid (Herotilapia multispinosa)

A small, peaceful and colourful cichlid, ideal for the community aquarium.

The Herotilapia multispinosa, or rainbow cichlid, is a species native to Central America (Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica). Easy to maintain and very peaceful for a cichlid, it is distinguished by its golden, blue and orange reflections, which change according to mood and the breeding season.

1. Behaviour & maintenance

A territorial species during the breeding season, but generally peaceful outside it. Best kept in pairs or small groups in a well-planted tank with hiding places and fine substrate. Compatible with other calm fish of a similar size.
