Heros sp. "Inírida" is an undescribed wild form of the genus Heros, originating from the Inírida river (Colombia) and closely related to the famous Heros efasciatus. This variety is highly sought-after for its natural reddish-orange hues and elegant stocky shape from an early age. Ideal for lovers of calm cichlids, even in medium-sized tanks.

Behaviour & maintenance

This wild hero is :

• Territorial but calm towards other species
• Gregarious as a juvenile, forming pairs as an adult
• Curious, intelligent, quickly recognises its keeper

Should be kept in groups of juveniles (4-6) or in pairs. Beware of the risk of aggression if kept alone or in too small a tank.

Feeding

Omnivorous with herbivorous tendencies:

• Cichlid-specific pellets (small size)
• Plant foods (spirulina, poached vegetables)
• Artemia, bloodworms, krill in small quantities

Avoid excess animal proteins, which can lead to obesity and digestive problems.
