A small, colourful and peaceful cichlid, emblematic of Amazonian aquariums.

A peaceful fish , territorial during the breeding season. Best kept in pairs or small groups, in an aquarium of at least 80 L with plenty of vegetation and hiding places. Likes fine substrate (sand) for foraging and moderate lighting. Prefers soft, slightly acidic, well-oxygenated water.
Omnivore with carnivorous tendencies: quality foods (pellets, artemia, bloodworms, daphnia, frozen food). See our food for dwarf cichlids.
