Robust, active freshwater shrimp – excellent algae eater
Caridina multidentata "Yellow" is a selective variant of the famous Amano shrimp. It stands out thanks to its golden to yellowish translucent colouration, while keeping the hardiness and efficiency of the original species. Perfect for planted tanks and natural aquascapes, it actively helps keep décor and plants clean.
Caridina multidentata is a peaceful, social and very active shrimp. It should be kept in groups of at least 6 individuals in a well-balanced aquarium. It spends the day grazing on leaves, roots and rocks, searching for algae and micro-organisms.
A minimum 50 L aquarium is recommended, with plenty of hiding places and good oxygenation.
Primarily herbivorous, this shrimp feeds on algae, biofilm and leftover food. It is recommended to supplement its diet with vegetable-based wafers, catappa leaves or spirulina.
It does not damage healthy plants and cohabits very well with calm fish.
Clean, stable and well-oxygenated water is essential for their health. Absolutely avoid copper-based treatments. Before introducing them, use a shrimp-safe water conditioner.
Provide a fine substrate and plenty of aquatic plants to promote biofilm growth.
Mosses such as Taxiphyllum (Java moss) are ideal for resting, shelter and breeding. Prefer a low-intake filter or one fitted with a fine sponge to avoid sucking up juveniles.
