Decorative freshwater shrimp, very effective against algae
Caridina multidentata "Orange" is a selective variant of the Amano shrimp, prized for its amber to orange colouration and constant activity. Just like the wild form, it is ideal for planted aquascapes, where it actively contributes to the tank’s natural cleaning.
A peaceful, active and social species, Caridina multidentata prefers to live in groups (at least 6 individuals). It spends its time grazing algae and micro-organisms on leaves, roots and rocks. A minimum 50-litre aquarium with a fine substrate and plenty of hiding places is recommended.
Essentially herbivorous and detritivorous, it feeds on algae, biofilm and leftover food. Supplement its diet with vegetable-based wafers, spirulina, or natural leaves (catappa, nettle, moringa).
It does not attack plants and contributes to the biological balance of the tank.
Use a copper-free conditioner and perform regular water changes to maintain optimal stability. Good oxygenation is essential for their well-being.
Natural plants and mosses (such as Java moss) are ideal for this species, as they provide shelter and natural grazing surfaces.
Use a low-intake filter to avoid any risk to juveniles. A décor made of roots and rocks encourages their natural foraging behaviour.
