Amazon striped corydoras - robust, active and peaceful

Hoplisoma schwartzi, often referred to as Corydoras schwartzi, is a species of South American corydoras with a distinctive striped pattern and very sociable behaviour. It is appreciated for its contrasting look (black stripe on a creamy-white background) and its ability to cohabit easily with other calm fish.

Behaviour & maintenance

This is a :

  • Gregarious: to be kept in groups of 6 or more individuals
  • Pacific, tireless bottom-digger
  • Active during the day, very sociable with other fish.
Good mixing and a sandy bottom are essential for its well-being.

Diet

Benthic omnivore:

  • Sinking pellets for bottom fish
  • Bloodworms, artemia, tubifex (live/frozen)
  • Poached vegetables (courgette, spinach) as a supplement
Avoid feeding it only with leftovers from other fish.
