Guppy - colourful, sociable tropical fish that's easy to keep
The Poecilia reticulatus, commonly known as the Guppy, is one of the most popular aquarium fish in the world. Native to South America, it is distinguished by its magnificent colourful fins and great adaptability. It is an ideal fish for community aquariums and beginners.
Lively, sociable and peaceful. Should be kept in groups with a ratio of around 1 male to 2 to 3 females. The aquarium should be well planted, with shaded areas and gentle filtration. A very active and curious species.

Viviparous: the female gives birth directly to fry (20 to 40 young). Very prolific. Provide a densely planted tank or a nesting box to protect the young.
Ideal with other peaceful fish: Corydoras, Rasboras, Platys, Xiphos, Neocaridina shrimps. Avoid aggressive or long-finned fish (Betta, Tiger beard).
