Poecilia wingei "Neon" is a splendid variety ofEndler from Venezuela, selected for its fluorescent blue-green and orange colours. Its small size makes it perfect for nano-aquariums or quiet community tanks. Very hardy, it is ideal for beginner aquarists.

1. Behaviour & maintenance

Pacific, lively and sociable. Best kept in groups of at least 6, with a majority of females if possible. A well-planted tank with subdued light and gentle filtration. It likes floating plants and slightly alkaline water.

Viviparous: females give birth to viable fry every 3-4 weeks. The young feed easily on micro-foods. Provide dense plants to protect the young.

Excellent cohabitation with Dwarf Corydoras, Neocaridina prawns, Rasboras, Microrasboras and other peaceful micro-fish. Avoid aggressive fish or fish with large fins.
