Asian spiny eel - a peaceful and curious serpentine fish
Macrognathus siamensis is a species native to Southeast Asia, known as thespiny eel. Its elongated body and discreet behaviour make it an original and fascinating host for Asian aquariums. A robust, calm species, suitable for intermediate aquarists.
Nocturnal, peaceful and curious. Spends most of the day partially buried in the sand and becomes active at night. Provide an aquarium of at least 150 litres with a fine substrate, roots, stones and hiding places. Lid compulsory: excellent jumper.
Carnivorous: bloodworms, artemia, enchytrata, mosquito larvae, frozen and live food. Sometimes acclimatises to free-flowing pellets. Find out more about our foods for carnivorous fish.
