Pleco Galaxias - splendid black loricariid with white spots
Leporacanthicus sp. aff. Galaxias (code L240) is a loricariid native to the Rio Tocantins basin in Brazil. Its dark body dotted with brilliant white spots has earned it the nickname Pleco Galaxias. A rare species, sought after for its beauty and robustness.
Calm and territorial. Best kept alone or in small groups in a spacious aquarium (250 L+) with plenty of hiding places (roots, rocks, tubes). Likes a moderate current and good oxygenation.
Mainly carnivorous: worms, shrimps, protein pellets and frozen food. Also accepts occasional vegetable pellets. Find out more about our foods for carnivorous loricariids.

Cavity spawning: the male guards the eggs until they hatch. Rare in captivity, but possible in large special tanks.
Compatible with calm South American fish (Corydoras, Geophagus, capercaillie). Avoid other large territorial plecos.
