Pseudolithoxus anthrax (code L235) is a spectacular species native to the Orinoco basin (Venezuela). Its deep black body adorned with white spots gives it a unique appearance. A rare, territorial and highly coveted species.

1. Behaviour & maintenance

Territorial, calm but demanding. Requires an aquarium of at least 300 L, rich in oxygen and well stirred. Likes rocky substrates and vertical walls to attach itself. Provide plenty of hiding places and powerful filtration.

Very rare in captivity. Spawning on hard substrate, the male keeps the eggs. Sensitive to water quality and temperature.

With bottom-dwelling calm fish, Corydoras, Geophagus or small dwarf cichlids. Avoid cohabitation with other dominant Loricariidae.
