Tetraodon schoutedeni (Farmed)

African dwarf pufferfish – intelligent, captivating and bred in captivity

Tetraodon schoutedeni is a freshwater pufferfish native to the Congo Basin. This farmed strain is more robust and better suited to aquariums than wild specimens.

Known for its curious and interactive behaviour, it quickly develops a relationship with its keeper. Despite its small size, it remains a territorial fish requiring a suitable tank.

Behaviour and maintenance

  • Very intelligent and active

A well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places is essential to limit stress and conflict.

A rich and varied diet is essential to prevent excessive tooth growth.
