A small, robust and colourful Asian barb, ideal for the community aquarium.
The Pethia nigrofasciata, also known as the Black Ruby Barb, is atropical freshwater fish native to Sri Lanka. Very hardy and lively, it is perfect for community aquariums.
Behaviour & care
A gregarious species that should be kept in groups of at least 6 individuals. Avoid long-finned fish. An external filter to ensure good oxygenation is recommended.
Diet
Omnivorous: flakes, plants, artemia, mud worms. Find out more about our food for bearded bass.
