Bright, peaceful and easy to care for ruby barbs

The Pethia padamya, also known as the ruby barb, is a red jewel native to Burma. This smalltropical freshwater fish shines with its bright red scales and peaceful demeanour.

Behaviour & care

A gregarious and very active species, it should be kept in schools of at least 8 individuals in an aquarium of at least 80 litres. Clear water and a soft external filter are ideal.

Diet

Omnivorous: microgranules, artemia, worms and plant foods. Find out more about our food for small bearded ducks.
