Hyphessobrycon elachys is a rare and fascinating micro-characid native to the fresh waters of Paraguay. This discreet and elegant dwarf tetra is one of the smallest known South American aquarium fish, making it an excellent choice for planted nano-tanks and low-volume aquascapes.

Hyphessobrycon elachys is :

• Very peaceful, perfectly suited to community microfish tanks
• Gregarious: should be kept in shoals of at least 8-10 individuals
• Shy if kept alone or in small numbers

At ease in dense vegetation, with a few natural hiding places.

Diet

Omnivorous micro-predator:

• Microgranules, special powders for nano-fish
• Live/fine food: micro worms, artemia nauplia, infusoria
• Daphnia, cyclops, very small prey

A very fine diet is essential for this small fish.
