The Hyphessobrycon rosaceus "Whitefin" is a selected variant of the famous pink tetra, distinguished by its high-contrast milky white fins, which are particularly noticeable on mature males. This small, gregarious characid is ideal for well-planted community aquariums or peaceful nano-tanks.

Behaviour & maintenance

A school fish par excellence :

• Gregarious, to be kept in groups of at least 8 to 10 individuals.
• Pacific, compatible with other calm species
• Active in the middle of the water column, without being aggressive

Diet

Omnivorous, undemanding:

• Flakes, microgranules, powders.
• Supplements: artemia, daphnia, cyclops (live or frozen)
• Seaweed or spirulina in small quantities

• pH: 6.0 - 7.5
• GH: 3 - 12 °dGH
• KH: 2 - 6 °KH
• Conductivity: 80 - 250 µS

Choose soft, stable, well-oxygenated water. Moderate lighting with tannins enhances their colours.

Decor & environment

Place this tetra in an aquarium planted with :

• dense vegetation (mosses, stems, floats)
• dark substrate or root-type wood
• A few quiet hiding places and free-swimming areas
